Junior Community Manager | Full time | Bristol/Hybrid
Job brief
Lo-Fi Games is looking for a Junior Community manager to help us engage with and grow our audience of Kenshi fans.
This is an entry-level role, and as such a great opportunity to get into the games industry. No prior experience working at a games company, or as a professional Community Manager is required.
We will be providing in-house, on-the-job training, so don’t worry if you’re not too well-versed in certain aspects mentioned in this description. We will also allow for a certain amount of hours every week for self-teaching on the job following YouTube tutorials etc.
Our ideal candidate has exceptional oral and written communication skills and is able to develop engaging content for both our existing audience and potential fans.
You should be well-versed in the moderation of online communities, and have demonstrable knowledge of platforms such as Discord, twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit and TikTok.
You will need to understand and adopt the company’s existing tone and social media guidelines, managing many, if not most, community communications and interactions.
This is a permanent role with a six month probationary period.
Responsibilities
- Implement social media and communication campaigns under guidance of and alongside the Head of Marketing
- Assist voluntary moderators and admins that help support the community. Ensure they are credited with respect and gratitude
- Memeing. Really. You’ll be making content for social media to engage with a gaming audience. We want content that fits
- Reply to queries; checking the bug report sections of our forums, and relaying information if volunteer moderators are unable to help
- Provide engaging text, image and video content for social media posts
- Keep a close eye on, and engage with Kenshi 1 communities on Steam, Discord, Reddit and Twitter
- Help build hype for our upcoming sequel – Kenshi 2
- Monitor and reporting on player sentiment
- Organise competitions and other community e vents
- Coordinate with the Head of Marketing and any external PR teams to ensure brand consistency
- Build relationships with streamers
- Stay up-to-date with trends in the games sphere and create content appropriately
Requirements
- A desire to learn – it’s not essential that you come into this role knowing everything about Kenshi, PC gaming, social media, and photo/video editing, but you’ll need to become knowledgeable in these areas to excel at the role
- Excellent writing skills – both formal and informal writing styles are important
- An interest in gaming, be it mobile, games or PC, we don’t mind. But an amount of interest, even as an outside observer, is desirable
- A sense of humour. We don’t want our output to be as dry as our deserts
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- A sense of awareness and sensitivity in keeping humour and interactions within appropriate professional boundaries
- An online presence – if your personal social media is set to private, that’s fine, but we’d need to see something to prove you do indeed use social media. Facebook page posts or tweets from a funny account you run for example
- Demonstrable knowledge of organisational/project management tools and the ability to adapt to new ones (Asana, Google Docs etc.)
- Ability to track and report on metrics across various social media channels. Training can be provided but a willingness to learn and report on time is essential
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Experience using image editing software/apps
You don’t need to have previously worked professionally as a Community Manager but it would be a big help to see examples of where you’ve moderated online, or grown a community – be it in a group about bad fashion, weird movies, blinged up caravans or whatever it is that floats your boat.
You might write a golfing newsletter or be campaigning to save a local pub, it doesn’t matter. We just want you to show us what you’ve done to grow and engage with a community
Desirable
- An interest in Kenshi
- Knowledge of Steam
- Experience moderating a gaming community
- An extensive back catalogue of OC memes
- Streaming experience
- Experience using video editing software/apps
- Knowledge of HootSuite-esque social media tools
- Analytics experience
- Experience writing monthly engagement reports
Benefits
- Flexible working times with core hours between noon and 4pm
- Bristol UK office with hybrid working
- 28 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Private healthcare
- Permanent position at our standard 32.5 hours per week
- Relaxed environment with a strict company policy of no crunch
- Excellent team welfare benefits
- Regular team socials
